3M™ Polyester Tapes 8421 and 8422 are for the photographic industry for splicing most film for processing through the developing chemicals. Frequently used in chemical baths at 150°F (66°C). Excellent solvent and chemical resistance, especially those found in photographic processes. Aggressive rubber adhesive grabs quickly and adheres well to a variety of films. Hot caustics will weaken backing after prolonged immersion. 3M tape 8422 black tape is opaque to light and can work in systems having automatic sensors.
Applications: Pre-splicing of most photographic film for processing (thorough testing and evaluation is suggested due to varying processing baths); General wide web splicing, including butt splicing and core starting; Sealing, color-coding, protecting and edging where a higher tack rubber adhesive is needed; Defect marking
